With over 12 years of experience teaching and innovating industrial/interaction design curricula at Syracuse University and MassArt, James has been a practicing designer since 1984. His professional work ranges from architectural furnishings to sporting goods products. He is currently Principle of Read Design, a product design studio.

RICHARD WATSON
Designer / Partner, Essential Design

Leading adviser to companies on product innovation and authority in the field of design strategy. Speaker on the subject of the business power of design strategy, design vision and trends analysis. Prior to working for Essential, he worked for Fitch, and GE Plastics. He attained his Master of Arts, Industrial Design, Manchester Metropolitan University, England, and Bachelor of Art, Silversmithing, DE Montford University, England.


Ryan Lesser

RYAN LESSER
Art Director, Harmonix

 

Ryan attended and graduated from RISD and soon after helped to create tons of artwork for the cult phenom Obey/Giant. In 1995 Ryan was asked to become faculty at RISD in the Animation Department. At about that same time, he co-started ZAP Media (PC games) and Mammoth Studios (high-end CG). Completing work for a diverse group of clients including De La Soul, Looking Glass, Hasbro and Phish, Ryan became Art Director at Harmonix. Ryan has released many video games this decade including Guitar Hero 1 and 2, the Rock Band series and soon, The Beatles game.

BRIAN BUTLER
cryptozoologist and designer

When he is not hot on the trail of the elusive Ice Cream Person, Brian can be found by his computer, designing merchandise for bands such as Big D and the Kids Table, Dropkick Murphys, Jay-Z, Motley Crue, and Wu-Tang Clan. Brian was a participant in the 2007 Boston Cut&Paste Tournament.

GERALD JIMENEZ
Motion Graphics + Interactive Designer

Gerald Jimenez is a Dominican born designer. He currently designs the day away for clients such as Cadillac, HUMMER, and Product (RED) and spends his nights experimenting with confetti, lighting + a Handycam. He wants an Edirol V4 for his birthday. His motion graphics work have lived on video billboards in Times Square to portable projector screens at his local church. He serves as an arts educator with Bostons inner city youth through organizations such as Citzens School and The Cloud Foundation. Gerald wants to be a hero of the X-Men sort. If his work has taught him anything it's that he's not done learning.

Someday he'll succumb to the lights & sounds and become a VJ. For now, this is his life. Amen.

After graduating from Boston University's College of Fine Arts, Kristin worked at Prank Design where she learned the skills that prepared her for her current position as Art Director at Street Attack, an alternative and digital marketing agency. She works closely with Birdhead Design and holds a position on the Board of Directors of MARC, the Massachusetts Animal Rights Coalition.

Gustavo in an Industrial Designer and uses 3D at work to explore Advanced Concepts and to keep pushing his colleagues and clients to make awesomely relevant stuff. He's also addicted to new 3D technologies and bugs software developers constantly to make sure technology evolves his way.

Based in Boston, MA, Charles specializes in user-centered design encompassing user experience design, interface design, interaction and web design. Charles strives to design highly usable and intuitive products. He was born in Cape Town, South Africa, but has also lived and worked in London before moving to Boston. Charles is currently completing his BFA in Industrial Design at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
