Ding Yi

DING YI
Artist

As one of China’s leading contemporary artists, internationally acclaimed Ding Yi has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Yokohama Triennale, and the Guangzhou Biennale. Ding Yi is known for his large-scale abstract paintings, distinctive in the stark disconnect from the traditional literati and political realist painting of China’s past. A native Shanghainese, today, Ding Yi lives and works in his hometown, and teaches at the Shanghai Institute of Visual Art of Fudan University.

Art Critic, Curator

Jiang Mei joined the Shanghai Art Museum in 1996 as a curator and critic of Chinese contemporary art. Among the more notable exhibitions she has curated: “East+West: Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition” (Vienna, Austria, 2002); “On this Shore: 2005 Contemporary Female Art Exhibition”(Nanjing, 2005); “Deep Breathing: Chinese Contemporary Female Art Exhibition”(Shanghai, 2008); “China New Vision” (Las Spezia, Italy) and “The World of Others: Shanghai Vision in the Contemporary Art”(Shanghai, 2008).

Sam Jacobs is the Creative Director of Jellymon a Multi-Discipline Creative Agency with offices in Shanghai and Beijing. Jellymon was founded by Lin Lin and Sam Jacobs, the pair met at Chelsea School of Art in 2002 and have been working together ever since. Jellymon has worked with Nike, Adidas, Li Ning, K-Swiss, Mizuno, Reine et Roi, Kidrobot, Evisu, Wieden & Kennedy, Motorola and many more.

Yang Huizhong

YANG HUIZHONG
Group Creative Director, Meikao

As Group Creative Director of Meikao, Yang Huizhong oversees accounts as diverse as Shanghai International Airport, Great Wall, Changshu Bank and – of course – all the beers (Yanjing, Harbin, Siwo, Taishan, Yantai, to name a few). His work has been showcased at the China International Graphic Design Fair and in the China Designers Almanac. Recently, Yang was named one of China's Top 20 Creative Directors and one of the 100 Most Influential Chinese Designers by the Golden Calf Times Asia Pacific Advertising Awards.

Panthea enjoys talking to trees, hanging out at 60 Wujiang Lu, and biking around Shanghai's French Concession. She is usually covered in cat hair, which might explain the excessive biking: she's secretly hoping that the wind will, uh, sweep away all that kitty fuzz.

In addition to his 9 to 5 with OgilvyOne, Beck is also very active in Shanghai's art and design scenes. His obsession with anything and everything relating to freestyle design has earned him inclusion in in leading Chinese galleries including Duolun, the Zendai Museum of Modern Art, BizArt and the DDM Warehouse. Creative collaborations include one-offs with eno clothing, tigerbeer and Gibson Guitars.

Before settling in at Draft FCB, where he plays with cars (Buick, Saab and GM) most of the day, Hmonkey learned his craft as a freelancer, working on campaigns for the likes of Nike, Kappa, Dior and Elle. In 2006, Hmonkey was honoured with an excellence award from China Top Design and, recently, his work was selected for inclusion in the 2010 World Expo poster collection.

After graduating from the Chinese Academy of Art, Victor joined founding team of 61 Creative Studio, where he worked on projects for Bund 18, the Shanghai Auto Museum, and the Animamix exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai. In 2005, he joined MoCA full-time to oversee its Design department. Victor also works as a freelance photographer and graphic designer and has exhibited both in China and internationally.

Since 2006, she has interned with McCann-Erickson Shanghai and Wieden + Kennedy Shanghai. After graduation, she converted to a full-time graphic designer in W+K Shanghai and has been working there ever since. Most recently, she is the only Chinese female to be selected by Yen magazine (Australia's #1 independent magazine for women) as one of their Curvy artists for 2009. She also is one of the singapore famous art group:momorobo.
