He grew up drawing, reading comics and watching TV: from the likes of Marvel, EC and DC comics (in particular Swamp Thing) to Raymond Brigg's Fungus The Bogeyman, from magazines like Starburst to TV shows like ‘Monkey’, ‘Tiswas’ and late night Hammer horror double bills. Roberto started studying typography and graphic design at the age of 13 and never stopped since. He is still pretty much addicted to Manga and all sorts of odd and weird sci-fi, experimental music, in particular contemporary classical, improvisation, psychedelic and Japanese noise. Lots of electronica and hip hop too. All this and much more influenced his work over the years. After high school he freelanced through the nineties as a graphic designer for the Milan offices of McCann Erickson and Leo Burnett before moving to London as a senior designer for MTV in 1999. After spending a year art directing the cinema channels for Sky Italia, in 2005 he moved back to MTV as creative director for MTV South Europe. Roberto currently works as vice president of creative for MTV International and creative director of MTV’s World Design Studio, an international creative unit based in Milan and Buenos Aires that provides creative direction for MTV International and produces design and promotion for the network.
