JOY SIAN Joy loves having an online identity, offline she has been told she suffers from FOMO (fear of missing out.) You can find her rigging solar panels, networking instead of hitting the gym, eating 2 dinners a night, and enough energy left to dance 'til dawn.

55DSL Awards Janee Meadows from Los Angeles the Grand Prize for the 2D Competition
Last Friday, October 16th 2009, Cut&Paste held its first-ever Global Championship competition, pitting 48 competitors against each other, live onstage, at the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City.
Janee Meadows from Los Angeles was crowned Global Champion in the 2D Competition and has been awarded the opportunity to design a 10.55 t-shirt, exclusively for 55DSL to be sold in flagship stores worldwide. The award was presented onstage by 55DSL's Creative Director Andrea Rosso, who made it to NYC to participate as a judge and to represent the 55DSL family.

55DSL & CONVERSE ANNOUNCE THEIR GRAND PRIZES FOR GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP
2D Design // 55DSL
In the spirit and tradition of celebrating independent design and creativity, 55DSL will be awarding two prizes. The Global Championship winner for the 2D Competition on October 16th will be chosen by Cut&Paste’s 2D Jury including 55DSL Creative Director Andrea Rosso. The winner will be awarded the chance to design a 10.55 t-shirt exclusively for 55DSL to be sold in flagship stores around the world.

The grand prize winner of the Global Championship Motion Design competition will receive the opportunity to collaborate with Converse on a special contracted design project. Details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Cut&Paste is proud to present the culmination of Digital Design Tournament 2009 —the first-ever Global Championship. With the broad geographical reach of an Olympic event and the nervy psychological gamesmanship of the X Games, the championship takes the tournament’s international approach to design as spectator sport and amps it up like never before. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the final showdown.
Between February and June, Cut&Paste has seen Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Boston, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Amsterdam, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sydney throw their best talents onstage in its annual showcase of design as a fast-paced, high-intensity, internationally competitive spectator sport. Withstanding the pressure of judges hovering, music blaring, minutes ticking down on the clock, a fast-talking MC on the mic, and putting their reputations on the line, three competitors in each city have made claims to the Cut&Paste title. Now they will face off against each other, champions vs. champions, to see which designer will be crowned the worldwide winner.
As with city tournaments, the Global Championship will feature a tech setup that registers every mouse click and tapped command from the designers' workstations and projects them live and in real time on large-scale displays in full view of the audience. With all eyes on their every move, these designers will be giving a live performance to remember—they'll be competing for some serious bragging rights and gunning for the prize.
Winners of the global 2009 Audience Design Contest in 2D design will also be announced at the Global Championship.
